369 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WARD, Calvin R. Calvin was born on July 15, 1923, in Brussels, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on November 8, 1941 and served as a Leading Aircraftsman stationed in Gagetown, New Brunswick. He was discharged on October 4, 1945. He received his Service 1939-1945 Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. After his discharge, he married Florence Gay of Moncton, New Brunswick and moved back to Ontario where he worked at Uniroyal in Kitchener. Calvin was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Waterloo Branch 530 for twenty years before he passed away on March 9, 1970. WARD, William William was born inWhitby on April 21, 1919. He enlisted in the Army and served in the Queen’s Own Rifles from 1940 to 1945 stationed in New Brunswick, Newfoundland, England, Scotland, and Holland. He returned from war and married Joyce Nash in September 1948. They had three children, James, Jean and Marion. William was a carpenter building homes in Newmarket and then went to Whitby where he started a business with his brother Walter. It was Ward’s Well Boring and Septic Tank business. He did some farming of beef cattle and then retired on the farm east of Greenbank in 1974. William passed away on August 1, 1991. WARD, Sean Sean was born in Toronto on January 4, 1965. He enlisted in the Army (Primary Reserve) on September 1, 1986 and served with the Governor General’s Horse Guard /Ontario Regiment until his release on April 1, 2004. He currently resides in Whitby.
