353 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND TORRENS, David David was born on November 9, 1879 in Market Hill Armagh, Ireland. He served in the Boer War as well as in World War I, joining the Army on April 15, 1915 and serving with the 36th Battalion, 36 Peel Regiment, in France and Belgium. David was gassed and wounded in the right shoulder at Vimy Ridge in France, resulting in his being medically discharged on October 30, 1918. For most of his life, David waged a constant battle with badly damaged lungs and he was in and out of the Christie Street Military Hospital. David married and had five children. He passed away on August 23, 1939. TRENHOLM, Robert Dickson Robert was born in Ville St. Pierre, Quebec on September 2, 1915. In 1940, prior to enlisting in the Navy, he resided in Ottawa. He enlisted as an Ordinary Seaman in the Navy (Regular Force) on November 9, 1940 and served on HMCS Saguenay, Venture and Niobe. He retired as a Lieutenant and received the 1939-1945 Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. Robert passed away on December 24, 1996. TRAPPITT, Arthur Leslie Arthur was born in Ottawa, Ontario on January 28, 1920. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve on October 7, 1940 and served on HMCS Stadacona, HMS Ranpura, HMCS Reindeer, HMS Ingonish and HMCS Orillia on the North Atlantic during World War II. Arthur was discharged on July 3, 1945. He married and was a salesman for Crane Supply for 45 years. Arthur passed away on January 28, 1989.
