319 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND SEGUIN, Roland Roland was born in St. Andrew, Quebec on April 13, 1921. He enlisted on May 1, 1942 and served in Canada, England, France and Northwest Europe with the Canadian Infantry Corps, Régiment Maisonneuve. He was wounded by shrapnel and was discharged on January 29, 1946. Roland was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Kapuskasing Branch 85 for a number of years before he died on June 1, 1966. SEMPLE, Robert Robert was born on March 29, 1980 in Lanarkshire, Scotland, to Robert andAgnes Semple along with eight siblings. Robert was working on a farm at R.R. #3 New Hamburg when on March 10, 1916 he enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in Milverton for World War I, 110th Battalion, B Coy. He requested a “harvest furlough” leave to help on the farm from July 25 to August 21 and then returned to basic training. On October 31, 1916, the battalion boarded the SS Coronia in the Halifax harbour for their journey to England. He was transferred to the 58th Battalion. He was sent to France on May 18, 1917. He was injured in a bomb blast with shrapnel to the face and legs. He spent a long time in the convalescent hospital in Etaples, France. He returned to his unit, appointed Corporal on October 22, 1918. Corporal Robert Semple was discharged on March 31, 1919. SEMPLE, Donald H. Donald was born on May 11, 1932. He joined the Army on August 18, 1950 and served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, 2nd Battalion in Korea, celebrating his nineteenth birthday in Kapuskasing Yong. He was discharged on August 14, 1952. Donald was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Sunset Post Branch 523 for thirty years before he passed away on December 24, 2009.
