307 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ROBINS, Ivan Stewart Ivan was born in Lion’s Head, Ontario on November 14, 1916. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) and served with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry in Holland, Belgium, and Germany. He was promoted to Corporal. Ivan passed away on September 3, 2000. ROSE, William Henry “Bill” Bill was born at Peel Memorial Hospital in Etobicoke, Ontario on April 22, 1913. He enlisted in the Air Force (Regular Force) on June 1, 1940 and trained as an aeroengineer and was discharged on October 19, 1945 as a Flight Sergeant. He served with Unit 126W in Holland, France, Germany and England. He was also posted at Mountain View Airport in Prince Edward County. Following his release on October 19, 1945, he was transferred to the Reserve, General Section, Class E. He was offered a military teaching job but declined. He had three children, a daughter Reta, and two sons William and Rev. Harry. Both sons were in the service. He was self-educated as a heavy equipment operator and stationery engineer. Bill was a life member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 237 in Marmora, Ontario. He resided in Marmora his whole life. Bill died during surgical repair for a ruptured abdominal aneurysm on September 22, 1987, in his 75th year. He is buried at Mount Nebo Cemetery in Spring Brook, Ontario. ROGER, William Elroy “Bill” Bill was born in Fullarton, Ontario on March 12, 1903. He enlisted in the Air Force (Regular Force) on June 17, 1940. Bill was an engine mechanic for two service flying training schools, Squadron #5 Brantford and Squadron #9 Centrailia. After discharge on July 6, 1945, he took over the farm he was born on and homesteaded by his parents on Lot 20 West Mitchell Road (Perth Road 163), Ontario. He lived his whole life there until his death on December 13, 1989.
