285 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PASCOE, Barry Clifford Barry was born on February 5, 1953, to Richard Pascoe and Avril Montgomery, in Geraldton, Ontario. He joined the local Air Cadet Sqn 227 in 1966 and then joined the Canadian Forces in February 1972 as a Communicator Research Operator. Barry was married to Christine Ryan in 1976 and together they had two children. He was stationed at CFS Gloucester, CFS Leitrim, CFS Gander, CFS Masset, NSGA Skaggs Island California and served four tours of CFS Alert in the NWT/Nunavut. In 1988, he made a trade transfer to Topographic Surveyor and was posted to Mapping and Charting Establishment in Ottawa. He travelled around Canada, Hawaii, and Australia on survey parties, plus two tours with NATO in the Former Yugoslavia. In 2007, he released from the regular forces and took a Class B employment at CEFCOM/CJOC in Ottawa as an Access to Information specialist until his retirement in February 2013. He received the Canadian Decoration with two clasps, Special Service Medal with Alert Bar, Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, and Former Yugoslavia Medal. After his wife passed away in 2012, he remarried his current wife Carole in 2014. They live in Carleton Place, Ontario, and are currently active members of Capt. A Roy Brown Branch 192 of The Royal Canadian Legion. PASCOE, Richard Allan “Dick” Dick was born on June 6, 1924 to parents Joseph Pascoe and Edith Jorgenson. He first served from February 25 to April 18, 1942 and he was released because he was underage. He rejoined on June 23, 1943 in Winnipeg as a signalman with RCCS. He served overseas in the United Kingdom and Northwest Europe as a driver, driver/mechanic from March 25, 1944 until January 1946. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and War Medal 1939-1945. He was released from the Army in Winnipeg on March 5, 1946 and returned to Geraldton, Ontario to work in the mine as a machine driver. He married Avril Montgomery in Port Arthur, Ontario on July 20, 1948, and they had nine children. Dick was an active member of the Robert Frost Branch 133 Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario from 1952 until his death in January 1987. PASCOE, Barry Joseph Barry was born on September 21, 1984, in Napa, California, to Barry Pascoe and Christine Pascoe. His father was in the service and was transferred back to Ottawa, Ontario in 1986. He lived on CFB Uplands until the early 90s when his family moved to Barrhaven. Since he was born in the US, Barry decided to enlist in the US Army which he did in early 2001. He completed his basic training at Fort Benning Georgia and was then transferred to Fort Irwin CA which is the National Training Centre for the US Army. He was assigned to the 2/11 Armored Cavalry Regiment where he was employed as an Opposition Force, for training troops being deployed overseas. He was sent back to Fort Benning to continue his training as a paratrooper and an arms expert. While at Fort Irwin, he obtained his Expert Infantryman Badge (EIB) and Swap sniper training. At age 17 he was one the youngest soldiers to pass this training. In late 2005, he was deployed to Iraq with 2/11 Armored Calvary Regiment (Black Horse) as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While there he was awarded his Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) and Good Conduct Medal. He also received three army achievement medals and two commendation medals. After a year in Iraq, he returned to Fort Irwin and shortly after took his release in 2006 and returned to Ottawa and his family.
