271 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND NEEB, Gordon Lewis Gordon was born on February 20, 1926 in Tavistock, Ontario to Theodore Ludwig and Alma Wilhelmina (Capling) Neeb along with four siblings, Alvin Milton, Katherine Elizabeth, Elmer William and Dorothy Marie. He attended Tavistock Public and Continuation School and after his schooling helped his father with electrical work and worked for Zimmerman Brothers. Gordon enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) on August 22, 1944 with the Royal Canadian Provost Corps and received his basic training in Chatham, and training to be part of the military police, and was then shipped overseas to England. He served in Canada, England and Germany. Lance Corporal Gordon Neeb received his discharge on June 22, 1946. After returning to Canada, he worked at the local Woolen Mill, Blackstone Scaled Power Grid and owned the Tavistock Supertest. Gordon was a fifty-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Tavistock Branch 518 and was past President. Gordon passed away on February 3, 2003 and is laid to rest in the St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery in Tavistock, Ontario. His service is remembered by his niece, Tory (Neeb) Reibling. NESBITT, Russell Roy Russell was born in Hamilton, Ontario on July 2, 1959. In 1977, at the age of eighteen, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy (Regular Force). His twelve years of service were with; CFB Cornwallis, Cooks training at Base Borden, Esquimalt BC, HMCS Gatineau, CFB Base Lahr, Germany – service battalion, instructor at CFB Base Borden and CFB London with the 1RCR. On his time with the HMCS Gatineau, he had the opportunity to travel to many ports before returning to Base Borden to complete his TQ5 cooking. In 1980, he was stationed in Germany at the flight kitchen for what he calls the best four years of his life. This is also where he learned the value of your military family. Russell was released in 1989. For the past six years, Russell has been a valued member of The Royal Canadian Legion Alliston Branch 171 for six years and has held positions on the Executive as Cenotaph Chair, Canteen Chair, 3rd and 1st Vice President and as President. The culinary and chef status gained in service reflected well for his future career in civilian and Legion life. NEEDHAM, Masie Edna Roxanne Masie was born in Tisdale Township, Ontario on August 29, 1966. She enrolled in the Reserves in February 1989 and transferred to Regular Force in July 1989. She was stationed at CFRS Cornwallis, CFB Chatham, CFB Esquimalt, CFB Borden and CFB Halifax. She was deployed to Bermuda on HMCS Margaree in March 1992 and was honourably discharged in September 1992. Joining the CF has given Masie the confidence she needed in her life. Masie currently resides in Timmins and is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Timmins Branch 88.
