223 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MacGREGOR, Archibald Edward “Archie” Archie was born in McGillivray Township in Middlesex on May 16, 1902. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) and served with No. 26 Company Canadian Forestry Corps in Scotland during World War II. After the war, he lived in Alberta for a bit and arrived in Thedford, Ontario in 1960. He became a butcher and meat cutter, having his own store. Archie passed away on January 13, 1991. MacLACHLAN, Claude Vernon “Bud” Bud was born in Fergus, Ontario on July 31, 1921. He enlisted in the Air Force (Regular Force) in September 1942 and served with 162 Squadron. During 1944/1945, LAC “Bud” MacLachlan was a radar technician working on Canso Aircraft serving in Reykjavik, Iceland. His squadron was loaned to the RAF’s Coastal Command hunting German U-boats in the mid ocean portion of the North Atlantic convoy routes. After his discharge in September 1945, he used his skills learned in the service to earn an engineering degree at McGill University graduating in 1950. He worked for public utilities in Waterloo and Windsor before becoming the Manager of the Ingersoll Ontario PUC from 1957 to 1987. In 1995, Bud attended his squadron’s reunion in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. He resided in Ingersoll, Ontario from 1957 until his passing on August 19, 1997. MACKENZIE, Alexander Alexander was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on February 7, 1925. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) on June 14, 1954 and served as a gunner. He was released on June 13, 1957. After his service, Alexander married Winifred Briand on July 21, 1947. They had three children, nine grandchildren, and eight greatgrandchildren. He retired from CNR as a clerk and resided in the Greater Toronto Area. Alexander passed away on August 25, 1994.
