215 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LEGER, Ronald Joseph Ronald was born in Moncton, New Brunswick on April 16, 1931. He enlisted in the Army in 1950 and served during the Korean War until his release in 1952. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Red Lake Branch. Ronald was a resident of Tweed, Ontario from 2010 until his passing on November 18, 2018. LEMMON, John A. “Jack” Jack was born in Creemore, Ontario on February 12, 1916. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II in 1941 and graduated from Galt Aircraft School, RCAF Trainees, Aero Engine Division in October 1941. He spent one year at Centralia Flying School servicing aircraft before transferring to England where he worked on Mosquitoes. One day, the base was loaded with Bombers; in the morning the sky darkened with airplanes; D-Day was later announced. Jack met Joan Jeffers in a pub in London. They were married on September 15, 1945. In July 1946, Jack left Liverpool aboard the Georgic, docked in Halifax, and continued home to Creemore by train. His discharge from the Royal Canadian Air Force was completed on August 12, 1946. Joan joined Jack in Creemore in September and they raised a son and two daughters. Jack became the village clerk until he retired in 1981. He joined The Royal Canadian Legion (BESL) in 1947 and served in most positions of Creemore Branch 397 and as treasurer for more than 25 years. Jack passed away in December 2005. LEGOFF, Allen J. Allen was born in Richibucto, New Brunswick on November 22, 1940. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in 1958 and served for three years with Special Forces, Germany and did two tours with UN Forces in Cyprus in a peacekeeping capacity in 1967 and 1975. Allen was released in 1980. He was presented with two D.O.E. medals by Governor General Vanier and with two D.O.E. medals by the Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace in London, England. He placed second in 1974 in Bisley, England for shooting for Canada with R22 Reg. Allen is a 47-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Hensall Branch 468. He has been residing in Huron Park, Ontario for over forty years.
