213 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LAWRENCE, Edward George Edward was born in Longford Mills, near Rama, Ontario, on August 5, 1923, son of John and Susan (Mahoney) Lawrence. During World War II, “Spoon”, as he was known, enrolled with the Royal Canadian Air Force (Regular Force) in Toronto, Ontario, on December 1, 1942. Leading Aircraft Man (LAC) Edward Lawrence served as a ‘rigger’ (airframe technician) with the RCAF in Canada and Newfoundland until he was discharged on April 17, 1946, in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. After the war, he married Alvera Southorn of Coldwater in 1948. Together, they had one daughter. He worked as a truck driver in Toronto and later as a taxi driver when he moved back to Rama. He was a long-time supporter of the Royal Canadian Legion and member of Branch 34 in Orillia, Ontario for twenty years. Edward passed away on November 3, 1993 and is buried in Saint-Columbkille Cemetery in Uptergrove, near Orillia. LEGAULT, Norman Norman was born in Montreal, Quebec on August 9, 1943. He served in the Army (Regular Force) from August 17, 1960 until he was medically released on December 16, 1960 and in the Reserve Force from March 2, 1966 to October 2, 1981. He served in the Governor Generals Foot Guards and 28th Service Battalion for sixteen years. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration. Norman is a fifteen-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Kanata Branch 638. He currently resides in Kanata. LEBLOND, Richard Adelard Richard was born in Kapuskasing, Ontario on August 7, 1964. He enlisted in the Army (Reserve Force) in March 1986 and served with the Grey and Simcoe Foresters for a while until he enlisted in the Navy (Regular Force) in September 1987. He served on the Pacific Ocean on HMCS Yukon, HMCS Saskatchewan, HMCS Saguenay and SBV Victoria (Minesweepers). He was released in January 1994. As of 2010, Richard resides in Timmins, Ontario.
