157 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND FYFE, William Clifford William was born on June 16, 1886, the son of John and Annie Fyfe of Richards Landing, a village on St. Joseph Island in northern Ontario. On April 1, 1916, he enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) and joined the 46th Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment in Moose Jaw and was transferred to the 128th Overseas Battalion. He was wounded in 1917. On November 1, 1918, all members of his section were casualties in an attack and his death was listed as “unknown circumstances”. William is buried in the Aulnoy Communal Cemetery in France and his name is inscribed on the cenotaph in Richards Landing, St. Joseph Island, Ontario. GANNON, James Langford James was born in Ottawa, Ontario on October 31, 1897. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) on February 17, 1916 in Victoria, BC joining the 103rd Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was shipped overseas onAugust 31, 1916 and served in Canada, England and France. He immediately saw action at the Battle of the Somme where he received a head wound. After being discharged, James was transferred to the 29th Battalion. On October 16, 1918, he was discharged from the Overseas Military Forces of Canada and joined the RAF in October 1918. At that point, the war was nearly over and he was discharged in December 1918. James passed away on April 24, 1978. GALE, Reginald Arthur Reginald was born in England on January 7, 1918. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) on March 20, 1942 and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps/Royal Canadian Corps Signals in the United Kingdom, Italy and Northern Europe duringWorldWar II. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, and Defence Medal. He had seven children: Ronald, David, Dianne, Larry, William, Ross and Frank and resided in Toronto. Reginald passed away on January 22, 1980.
