143 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND EMSLIE, George Jacob George was born in Berlin, Ontario on February 10, 1915, to George William and Louise (Hahn) Emslie, along with one sister, Edith Britannia, and one brother, William Howard. He enlisted in World War II in February 1942 with the Royal Canadian Air Force (Regular Force) and served in Canada and in England. He was discharged in July 1945. George married Agnes A. (Gall). He worked at Hahn Brass, New Hamburg until his retirement. George joined fellow veterans and applied for a Royal Canadian Legion charter for New Hamburg which was approved in March 1952. He was a charter member, life member, and past President with 39 years of continuous service to The Royal Canadian Legion New Hamburg Branch 532. His name is commemorated on the Veterans’ Plaque in the Legion hall. George’s niece Lorraine (Kilgore) is proud of her Uncle George’s service in World War II. He passed away on November 18, 1991 and is laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery in New Hamburg. EVANS, Allan William Allan was born in Toronto, on September 6, 1933. He enlisted in the Navy (Regular Force) on October 5, 1951 and served on HMCS Bonaventureon Communications Radar. He was released in 1961. Allan is a fifty-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Fergus Branch 275 and has been residing in Fergus, Ontario since September 15, 1923. ERVIN, Ann Elizabeth Ann was born in Northampton, England on April 1, 1960. She joined the naval reserve on July 4, 1977 as a financial clerk and after several class A and B opportunities, she transferred (ROTP) to the Regular Force in July 1981 as a Communications and Electronics Engineering Officer. After postings in Edmonton, Kingston, Borden, Panama City FL, North Bay, Colorado Springs, Winnipeg and Haiti, she ended her career in Ottawa with the Directorate of Military Careers. She was discharged on April 1, 2020. Ann currently resides in Kanata and is an eightyear member of The Royal Canadian Legion Kanata Branch 638.
