139 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND EDGERTON, Jean Weston Jean was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 2, 1926 and grew up on a farm near Renwer, Manitoba. In 1945, she enlisted in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps and received her Basics Training Clerk Typist course in Kitchener, Ontario. Jean was posted to No. 6 District Depot Chebucto Barracks in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she worked in the Officer Personal Department earning her group B trades pay. When Jean was discharged in 1946, she moved to Elgin, MB and married Howard in 1947. The family moved to Toronto in 1950 where Jean joined the CWAC Unit 47 of the Canadian Corps Association in 1951. For 53 years Jean was a very active member serving in many executive positions to create services and support for veterans. She was presented with the Canadian Corps Meritorious Service Award in 1966 for her contributions. Jean and Howard moved to Erin in 1994 across the street from The Royal Canadian Legion Erin Branch 442. Jean and Howard were married for 75 years and raised four children. Jean now resides in the Elliott Community in Guelph. Jean attended the Remembrance Day Dinner and Service at Branch 442 for the past 29 years. ELLIOTT, Victor Charles Victor was born in Acton, Ontario on November 8, 1913. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in 1939 and served with the Canadian Scottish Regiment in Normandy during World War II. He was discharged in 1945. Victor lived in Acton his whole life and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Acton Branch 197. Victor passed away on January 14, 1991. ELLIOTT, Thomas Thomas was born in Acton. He served in the Army (Regular Force) during World War I. He lived in Acton his whole life and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Acton Branch 197. Thomas passed away on May 15, 1929.
