135 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DUPUIS, Adrian Antoine Adrian was born on July 4, 1921, in Tilbury, Ontario. In 1942, he went to London, Ontario and enrolled in the Army (Regular Force). He was 21 years old. His training was in Petawawa. Later, he went back to London and trained as a French interpreter. Adrian’s service took him to Halifax and then Niagara Falls. After his release in 1945, he went to work for Ford Motor Company until it closed. In 1947, Adrian was married and they raised three children. For the next 25 years, he worked for the Chrysler corp until he retired. He was a proud member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 255 inWindsor and Branch 578 for a total of thirty years. Adrian passed away in 2007. EADY, Irwin James Irwin was born on April 1, 1921, to parents Thomas H. Eady and Mary Bennett in Foresters Falls, Ontario. He graduated from Foresters Falls High School in 1939 and worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Clyde Construction Co. in Carleton Place, Ontario. Irwin was an avid participant of track, pole vaulting, hockey, swimming and softball. On November 4, 1940, at age 19, Irwin voluntarily enlisted in the Air Force (Regular Force) in Ottawa, Ontario into the RCAF’s No. 1 ITS to serve during World War II. His father, Thomas H. Eady (25th Battery C.F.A.) served in World War I. Irwin embarked from Halifax, NS on September 15, 1941 and arrived at #3PRC, Bournemouth, UK. He received his Pilot’s Flying Badge on August 20, 1941. While in England he served with the RCAF 402 (City of Winnipeg) Squadron at RAF Digby, Lincolnshire, England. Flt Sgt. Pilot Eady was killed when his Hurricane aircraft #BE 479 crashed 800 yards west of the base at Warmvielle, Dorset, England. Irwin died on February 23, 1942, at age 20 years and was buried at Brookwood Military Cemetery, Woking, Surrey, England. He is commemorated on Page 71 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance, Ottawa and St. Andrews United Church, Foresters Falls, Ontario. EADY, Calvin Calvin was born on January 22, 1898, to parents Thomas Eady and Ellen Cowdrey in Foresters Falls, Ontario. His attestation paper indicates his prior trade was a mill hand. On January 20, 1916, at age 17, Calvin voluntarily enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in Arnprior, Ontario into the 130th Bn CEF to serve during World War I. His brothers, Thomas H. Eady (25th Battery C.F.A.) and Russell G. Eady (21st Bn CEF) also served. He embarked from Halifax, NS onboard the SS Lapland, arriving in Liverpool, England on October 6, 1916. In November 1916, he was transferred to the 3rd Bn CEF. He was deployed to France on March 22, 1917 and promoted to L/Sergeant on January 28, 1918. On August 30, 1918, during the 3rd Bn’s engagement at UptonWoods, L/Sgt. C. Eady sustained a severe gun shot wound to the abdomen. He was transferred to Military Hospital Dover, UK where 18 days later, on September 17, 1918, at the age of 20, he died of his wounds. He was buried at Dover (St. James’s) Cemetery, Kent, UK and was posthumously awarded the Military Medal. He is commemorated on Page 402 of the First World War Book of Remembrance, Ottawa and St. Andrews United Church, Foresters Falls, Ontario.
