131 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DREWERY, Percy Wycliffe Percy was born in Charing Cross, Ontario on March 6, 1918. He enlisted in the Navy (Reserve Force) on November 30, 1942 and served on HMCS Ottawa and HMCS Ontario in Canada, Newfoundland, and the United Kingdom on the High Seas in the Atlantic and Pacific Zones, in Burma and in Northwest Europe (DDay) during World War II. He was released on February 4, 1946. Percy passed away on February 4, 1978. DUNN, Cecil Alexander Cecil was born in Hillsdale, Ontario on October 24, 1893, the son of George Alexander and Mary Dunn. By the time World War I began, he resided in the nearby village of Coldwater, where he enrolled in the Army (Regular Force) on February 15, 1916. He joined the 157th Battalion (Simcoe Foresters), Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was 23 years old, single, and had no previous military experience. Private Cecil Dunn sailed to England on October 17, 1916. After some training in England, he landed in France on December 1, 1917, assigned to the 1st Canadian Infantry Battalion, part of the 1st Canadian Division. Cecil was wounded in action on May 3, 1917, and had a finger amputated. As a result, he was posted to the Western Ontario Regimental Depot in Bramshott, England. He returned to Canada after the war for demobilization and was discharged on April 24, 1919. Cecil later married Violet Phoebe (Turkington) and settled in Midland, Ontario. He was active in The Royal Canadian Legion with Branch 80 in Midland, eventually being awarded Life Membership. He passed away on October 8, 1973, at the age of 79. He is buried in St. Mark’s Anglican Cemetery in Midland. DRISCOLL, Robert Robert was born in Ottawa on November 13, 1915. He enlisted in the Navy (Regular Force) in 1942 and served in HMCS Carleton, York, Cornwallis, Stadacona, and Acadia during World War II on the High Seas and in Canada. He was released in 1945 and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with overseas bar, War Medal 1939-1945, Atlantic and 1939-1945 Star. He was a twenty-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Strathcona Branch 595. Robert passed away on August 27, 1976.
