127 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DORION, Peter Roland Peter was born in Rustico, PEI on July 22, 1937. He enlisted in the Air Force (Regular Force) as a reservist on February 4, 1959. He was discharged on February 1, 1960. Peter lived near Toronto in Etobicoke, Ontario. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Flight Lieutenant David Hornell, VC Branch 643 for 46 years. Peter passed away on January 31, 2022. DOUCETTE, Leonard Joseph Leonard was born in Moncton, New Brunswick on October 17, 1943. During his service in the Militia, he participated as an instructor on the “National Survival Course” DND set up across Canada after the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was given a train the trainer course in Camp Gagetown and presented the course to enlisted students (mainly seniors in high school) on the Moncton reserve base. Training included: military drill, rescue techniques, firearms safety and handling, first aid and radiation safety. Leaving the militia in 1964, he joined the civil service in 1965 with Environment Canada. Many assignments included participation on four Northern Sovereignty Flights on Argus Patrol aircraft over the Artic. He was also assigned to Coast Guard ships on five different ship postings as an officer on the East Coast and Arctic to support shipping, both civil and navy, in ice congested waters. After accumulating more than 8,300 flying hours on fixed wing aircrafts and helicopters and completing over 360 days on ship postings at sea. Leonard settled in Toronto Headquarters eventually reaching a position as “Chief of Quality Assurance Division” before retiring in 1998. He has been residing in New Market, Ontario since December 1993 and is a three-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Newmarket Branch 426. DORLAND, Mark Edwin Mark was born in Trenton, Ontario on May 19, 1965 and was raised in Wooler, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) and later CANSOF Comd as YTEP on October 28, 1983 and then the Regular Force on October 28, 1984. He served with 3 PPCLI, 1 Service Battalion, 1 CDHSR, 1 JSR and JTF2 on UN and NATO missions. During his career, he served in Cyprus (1988), Cambodia (1993), Croatia (1996), Afghanistan (2002, 2005 and 2009) and Canada. Mark retired with 26 years of service in March 2011 at the rank of MWO. Mark resides in Carleton Place, Ontario. He is an eleven-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 192.
