125 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DOLAN, James “Wilbert” Wilbert was born on July 11, 1915 and raised in Woodlawn, Ontario. He married Beryl Milford on January 7, 1941 and attended basic training in Brockville three days later. He enlisted in the Canadian Army (Reserve Force) on January 10, 1941. He got an honourable discharge from the Army on February 8, 1941. When he was called to active duty, he was out west on a cropping excursion, which was a service to his country. Wilbert was in the farming and farm machinery business most of his life. He was also an avid member of the Fitzroy Harbour Volunteer Fire Department; usually being the first one on scene at a fire. Wilbert was an ordinary member of The Royal Canadian Legion West Carleton Branch 616 for fourteen years. James passed away on April 21, 2008. DORION, Lloyd Joseph Lloyd was born in Rustico, PEI on December 5, 1941. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) on September 20, 1957 and served with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in Canada. He was discharged on November 18, 1964. Lloyd is a 28year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 643. He is currently residing in Toronto. DORAN, Warren William Warren was born on July 24, 1896, in Meath, Ontario. He was drafted into the Militia on January 3, 1918 in Kingston, Ontario, 1st Depot Battalion to serve in World War I with the Canadian Expeditionary Force as a skilled mechanic. He departed Halifax for England aboard SS Metagamaon February 28, 1918. Initially, Warren served with the 75th and 17th Battery but in France, he served with the 25th Battery 2nd Division (Artillery). He returned to Canada on April 30, 1919 and was discharged on May 26, 1919. World War I medals include the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. Once again, at the age of 43, Warren enlisted in the Canadian Army on December 4, 1939 serving in World War II. Due to his age, he didn’t go overseas but was posted to Camp 33 Centre Lake, Petawawa, Ontario which was a POW Internment Camp housing Germans, Italians and Japanese. As a skilled mechanical electrical engineer, he was responsible for all the power in the camp. He remained at Camp 33 until its closing on March 6, 1946. Warren was discharged on February 26, 1947 at the rank of Lance Sergeant. World War II medals include the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 19391945. Warren passed away on August 8, 1976, at the age of eighty.
