107 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND COMEAU, Lawrence Paul Lawrence was born in Magog, Quebec on July 8, 1925 and had 20 siblings. He enlisted in the Canadian Army and served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment in France, Italy, Germany, and Holland during World War II. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the Defense Medal, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star and the War Medal 1939-1945. Lawrence married Leona A. Chute in 1964 and they had three children. He worked in construction. He was granted the wish list program at Parkwood hospital on July 10, 1990 and Carla Pragg, a Dutch girl with whom he had fallen in love during the war, was brought to Canada on a 15 day pass. Lawrence passed away on September 25, 1990. COSGROVE, James William James was born in Risalpur Ranikhet, India on October 28, 1915, to Susan E. (Richards) and James Joseph Cosgrove. It is unknown when the family immigrated to Canada. James enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) on September 11, 1939 serving with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corp. Prior to his enlistment, he was living in Ottawa and was a personal valet for Lord Tweedsmuir from 1935 to 1939. His military service during World War II took him to the United Kingdom and to Continental Europe. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. After James was discharged on October 12, 1945, he attended the University of Toronto, met and married his wife Doreen Pecore. He decided to re-enlist in the Army on October 9, 1951 and was deployed to Germany, Montreal, London and Frobisher Bay over his years of service and took his release on October 28, 1966. As a civilian, he continued to work as a commissionaire at the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa. He and his wife had three children. He was a twenty-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Ottawa. James passed away on October 11, 1977, in Ottawa, Ontario. CORCHIS, Constantine John Constantine was born inWindsor, Ontario on December 3, 1940. With a permission letter from his mother, Constantine enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (Regular Force) on October 6, 1958, at the age of seventeen. His basic training was in Clinton, Ontario where he trained as a Ground Radar Technician. His service took him to St. Jean, Quebec and later to Foymount, Ontario with BRC 57. After retiring from the Air Force on September 1, 1960, Constantine went to work for Toledo scales teaching basic electronics. In 1962, he came back to Windsor. In 1964, he went to work at the General Motors Transmission Plant. He married his wife in 1983. After he retired from GM in 1966 as Supervisor, he went to work for himself doing different construction jobs. He still found time to play a lot of golf and bowling. He was inducted into the WECKBA (Bowlers) Hall of Fame. Constantine is a proud 24-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 594.
