321 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ROBINSON, Paul Walter Paul was born in Cheadle Hume, United Kingdom on May 29, 1948. He began his military career at RMC Kingston on September 6, 1966. Graduating with a degree in English, he was posted to CFB Edmonton as a pay officer. From there, he went as an English instructor at Collège militaire royal (CMR) in Saint-Jean, Quebec, following which he was a recruiting officer in Sudbury. Paul subsequently reclassified to Public Affairs and was posted to Information Services at NDHQ Ottawa. On April 1, 1981, he took his release and entered pastoral ministry. While pastoring a church in Ottawa, he was invited to rejoin the Forces as a Reserve Chaplain and was privileged to serve as padre to the Governor General’s Foot Guards. He served with the Guards until eventually leaving Ottawa to take up pastoral duties in Tillsonburg, Ontario where he currently resides. He is a 25-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Tillsonburg Branch 153. RONSON, Leighton Glenworth Leighton was born in Norwich, Ontario on December 30, 1925. He signed up in the Army (Regular Force) in London, Ontario on January 17, 1944, and served as a Signalman with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in Canada, the United Kingdom and Northwest Europe. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and clasp, 1939-1945 Star and Defence Medal. He was released on June 22, 1946. After his release, he took a primary accounting course and worked for Northern Electric for five years and then was employed by Bell Canada for 33 years. He is a fifty-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Tillsonburg Branch 153. ROGERS, Thomas Joel “Tom” Thomas was born in Wheatley, Ontario on June 28, 1918. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) on February 2, 1943, and served with the Royal Canadian Regiment in the United Kingdom in several trades at a hospital treating wounded soldiers. He was discharged on March 14, 1946. Upon return to Canada, he joined The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 185 where he held most branch positions including Branch President and over thirty years as Branch Service Officer. He received his life membership and recognition for fifty years of membership. He also served as Zone A-3 Honorary Treasurer. Thomas passed away on July 27, 1997.
