313 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND RAMSAY, Charles David David was born in Toronto, on July 26, 1922. He enlisted for basic training in August 1944 and served with the Essex Scottish, Front Line 2nd Division, C Company, Toronto during World War II. David was one of 175,000 soldiers who helped liberate Holland from German occupation in 1945. “I was one of the fortunate ones who came back alive. It was like a bad dream; you still get vivid flashbacks.” He was discharged in October 1945. David fought on the front lines as a machine gunner and saw his first action near Hochwald, Holland and participated in the Battle of Reims. David married Eileen in 1948 and they had nine children. David passed away on November 22, 2020. REINER, Lloyd Joseph Lloyd was born on May 7, 1919, in Hanover, Ontario, to Frederick William and Agatha (Hummel) Reiner. He had seven siblings: Norman, Bill, Marie, Tillie, Chuck, George and Verna. His education was from St. Mary’s SS in Kitchener. He was working at BF Goodrich when he enlisted to the World War II conflict on February 10, 1943, with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corp and served in Italy, France and Germany. Private Lloyd Reiner was discharged on February 25, 1946. Upon his return to Kitchener, he obtained employment with Uniroyal. He married Eva Marie (Fackoury) and together they raised four children: James, John, Geralynn and Robert. Lloyd had a love of gardening and fishing. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Waterloo Branch 530. Lloyd passed away on April 18, 1994, and has been laid to rest in St. Agatha Roman Catholic Cemetery. RANSIER, George George was born in Collingwood, Ontario on August 7, 1923. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (Regular) on January 13, 1942, and served as a diplomatic courier for the High Commissioner in England. He was discharged in September 1946. He married Margaret McAllister on July 3, 1947, and had two children who currently belong to The Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies Auxiliary. George had his own trucking business and farmed until 1975. He joined the Creemore Legion Branch 397 in 1951 and held many positions over the years. He wore his original uniform every November 11 until he passed away on December 13, 2010.
