293 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PARKER, John Henry John was born on July 24, 1888, in Brunley, England. It appears the family might have moved to Canada and St. Joseph Island, in the west end of Lake Huron, sometime before the Great War. He was married to Harriet Ellen Parker before joining the 119th Overseas Battalion on June 12, 1916. He was later transferred to the 44th Manitoba Battalion. On September 27, 1918, in the Inchy-en-Artois region of France, he was killed in action when he was hit by shrapnel. He is buried in the Moevers Communal Cemetery in France and his name is inscribed on the Hilton Beach cenotaph on St. Joseph Island. PATTISON, Robert Ferguson “Bob” Bob was born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland on September 1, 1936. He served in the Boys Brigade before joining the Royal Army on September 12, 1957, to complete his national service. His unit was the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers, and his rank was Craftsman. He then transferred to the reserves and served until his discharge on March 11, 1963. Robert, his wife Susannah, daughter Elaine and son Robert immigrated to Canada in 1965 and settled in Bramalea, Ontario. Robert joined The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 609 in 1968 and was a member for 36 years. He held many chairs on the executive including President for a two-year term. He was the Convener for two District B Conventions hosted by Branch 609. Robert as awarded Life Membership and continually volunteered around the Branch until his passing on November 14, 2002. PATRICK, Robert James Robert was born in Howick Township of Huron County on February 19, 1897. He enlisted Army (Regular Force) on March 30, 1916, in St. Thomas where he was working as a salesman. He joined the 91st Battalion and was sent overseas in June 1916 aboard the SS Halifax. He was serving with the 6th Canadian Reserves when he was injured in the hip in April 1917. He returned to duty and was discharged in April 1919 on demobilization. He came to the Brussels area where he was married and later widowed. He operated an antique shop for many years in the town. He passed away on April 9, 1961. He was survived by two brothers and two sisters. He was buried in Molesworth Cemetery. Patrick was a charter member of The Royal Canadian Legion Brussels Branch 218 formed in October 1931 and was a member for thirty years.
