277 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MUTRIE, William G. R. William was born in Grand Valley, Ontario on June 15, 1912. He enlisted in 1942 and served in the North Atlantic on the Corvette New Westminster of the Royal Canadian Navy, doing convoy duty in World War II. William was discharged in 1945 and he earned the Atlantic Star Medal for his service. He passed away on March 20, 2012. NEILSON, Archie Archie was born in Windsor, Ontario on October 17, 1934. In 1957, at the age of seventeen, he joined the Army (Regular Force) with the Windsor Regiment. His basic training was in Windsor at the downtown armory, and he also spent time at Camp Borden and Camp Petawawa. Archie worked as an instructor for the Regional Cadet Instructor School for fourteen years. He was married for 47 years and raised one daughter. He served for 42 years. After he was released in 1999, Archie worked as an electrician. In 1994, he joined the Metropolitan Branch 594 of The Royal Canadian Legion. He served for four terms as President and is currently serving as third vice President. NAPIER, Patrick Brandon “Pat” Pat was born in Colchester, Ontario on June 28, 1926. He joined the Army (Regular Force) with the Essex Scottish Regiment in January 1943. Because Pat was only seventeen years old, he had to get a permission letter from his mother. Pat’s basic training was at the #12 Canadian Army Training Centre out of Chatham, Ontario. His deployment took him to England, France, Germany and the Central Mediterranean. After his release on November 21, 1945, Pat went to work at a paint factory and then the Ford Motor Company. In 1947, Pat got married and later raised two daughters. In 1955, Pat went to work for the city of Windsor until his retirement. Pat passed away on May 14, 2001.
