271 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MULHOLLAND, Gerald Donald Gerald was born in Hamilton, Ontario on November 10, 1930. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) on August 15, 1950, and served with the Royal Canadian Regiment, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Battalion, Pay Corps in Canada, the United States, Korea and Japan. After his discharge on October 30, 1952, Gerald worked for General Motors in Oshawa and then had an opportunity to work for the LCBO in Tillsonburg, retiring there after 32 years. He is a 58-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Tillsonburg Branch 153. MUNRO, Alistair “Al” Al was born on September 9, 1921, in Kinning Park, Glasgow, Scotland. He started his military service with the Essex Scottish in Windsor, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Military (Regular Force) at the Windsor office of the Royal Canadian Air Force on October 17, 1942. He was soon transferred to the Highland Light Infantry and soon made his way overseas to Scotland. While in Scotland, he trained with the Royal Marine Commando Unit. He and his comrades made many intrusions into occupied territories during World War II. On D-Day, Sergeant Munro was part of the second wave of the Canadian objective deep into France. Sergeant Munro was a Bren Gunner. Al lost many comrades during several intense battles, the second taking his sight and hearing on the left side of his face. He was released in 1945. MUNRO, Alexander Alexander was born on January 19, 1896, inAlness Ross, Scotland. He immigrated from Scotland with his family and settled in Windsor, Ontario. Alex served in the Royal Navy during World War I (1913-1917). As an Able Seaman, he served aboard HMS Queen, HMS Halcyon, HMS Seagull, HMS Dahlia, HMS Sabrina and HMS Drake. He was a member of the Veterans Canada Unit #30 and the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment. He was an instructor for the Naval Sea Cadets at HMCS Hunter in Windsor, Ontario. He was instrumental in the birth of the Sea Cadets in Windsor. Alexander passed away on January 7, 1968.
