269 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MORGAN, Daniel Rothney Daniel was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, on December 29, 1920, when at the age of eighteen he joined the Royal Air Force (Regular Force). After basic training, he trained as a fitter then as a pilot and was attached to Bomber Command at Manchester Ringway and RAF Scrampton where he flewAvro Lancaster Bombers. As a pilot, he flew many sorties over Germany and Italy. Where on one such flight over Italy in 1943 he was shot down and was imprisoned in a Germany prisoner of war camp for two years. In 1945, he came home to Aberdeen when he left the RAF in November 1945. In 1947, he immigrated to Canada settling in Toronto where he met his wife Stella at a dance in 1951. Daniel worked for Goodyear Tires plant in Toronto. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 101 for over fifty years. Daniel passed away on March 17, 2021. MORRISON, Carl Carl was born in Alliston, Ontario on January 13, 1927. He served in World War II from 1944 to 1945 but his time was spent training and preparing to go overseas. Due to the war ending, it never materialized. Carl also served in the Reserves as an Infantry Officer with the Lincoln Welland Regiment in St. Catharines at the rank of Captain in the position of Adjutant. He later joined the regular force and served with the 1st Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment at Wolseley Barracks in London with the rank of Major. His medals include the War Medal 1939-1945, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Sir Arthur Currie Branch 116 for 37 years before he died on June 2, 2011, at the age of 84. MORRICE, James W. James was born in Chatham, Ontario on July 16, 1931. He enlisted in the Army on November 1, 1951 and served in the Korean War until October 1953, after which he received two medals for his service. When he was discharged, he came home to Chatham, Ontario and worked at Libby’s followed by a night watchman job in London, Ontario. James married on November 25, 1972 and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Victory Branch 317 for thirty years before he died on March 13, 2013.
