267 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MONAHAN, John A. John was born in Metcalfe, Ontario on September 29, 1919. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on May 20, 1941 and served in France and Germany during World War II. After his discharge on October 29, 1945, John worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Trenton Branch 110 for twenty years before he passed away on July 19, 1975. MORELAND, Lorna V. Lorna was born in Toronto, Ontario on September 5, 1923. She enlisted into the Army in 1941 and served with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in Vancouver, British Colombia. She was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Woodstock Branch 55 and a few other branches before she passed away on August 14, 2001. MONTAGUE, Yvette M. Yvette was born in Windsor, Ontario on June 19, 1936. On January 17, 1955, at the age of nineteen, she went to the downtown armory and joined the Army (Reserve Force). Her basic training was at Camp Borden and then Niagara on the Lake. She served for four years with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps (CWAC). After being discharged on March 26, 1959, she went to work for Burroughs Adding Machine Company in Windsor for three years. Yvette also worked as a bartender and waitress. She was also a member of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. After retiring, she spent a lot of time volunteering at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12. She held many chairs, including four years as President and is a Life Member. She has been a member of Branches 594, 12 and 644 for a total of 47 years.
