243 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McKAY, Lloyd Benjamin “Murray” Lloyd was born on June 1, 1916, to Charles Wilfred McKay and Martha Wheildon in Chatsworth, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) and joined the Royal Regiment of Canada on March 12, 1942. He served overseas in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe and while in England, he met and married Doris Freda Reed. He was released from the service on July 15, 1946, and returned to Chatsworth. Murray was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Chatsworth Branch 464 for forty years and served as President from 1957-58, 1960-61, 1965 to 1972 and from 1979 to 1982. Murray passed away on February 3, 1988. McKEE, Fraser Fraser was born in Toronto, Ontario on February 22, 1925. He enlisted in the Navy Reserve in March 1943 where he served mainly in Halifax and Digby in the Canadian Atlantic. After World War II, in the late 1950s early 1960s, Fraser qualified as an anti-submarine warfare specialist. During his time in the navy, he was aboard HMCS York, HMCS Vision, HMCS Wallaceburg, HMS Astute RN (Submarine) and HMCS Rainbow RCN (Submarine) including all three of Canada’s Aircraft Carriers as seaman watchkeeper, usually during their holidays as a relief OOD until his release in 1978 as a Commander. Fraser also flew on LRPA patrol up the Labrador and Baffin coast with RCAF 405 Squadron. He considers his military service and trade and what he was doing was important for the protection of Canada. He enjoyed any time at sea he had with his comrades. He remembers fondly his one and only time in a submarine. Fraser, over the years, has been a member of both the Naval Reserve and the Navy League where he has been both Provincial and National President. For the last twenty years, he has resided in Etobicoke, Toronto, Ontario. MCKAY, Thomas K. Thomas was born on July 24, 1921, in Stratford, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on June 24, 1940 and served in Canada, the United Kingdom and the central Mediterranean area with the Perth Regiment. Tom returned to civilian life on October 23, 1945 and purchased a 100-acre farm in Fullarton Township. After acquiring a herd of purebred Holstein cattle, he farmed for 30 years. Thomas was awarded a Life Membership from The Royal Canadian Legion Mitchell Branch 128. He passed away on September 5, 2006.
