233 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McBRIDE, David Worth David was born on March 18, 1942, in Toronto, Ontario. He enrolled in the Canadian Army on March 2, 1962, in Toronto becoming a Teletype and Cypher Equipment Technician. After basic training with the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry Battalion in Edmonton and Wainwright, Alberta, he went on to trades training in Kingston, Ontario. Further training would take him to Texas and California, USA and with the Royal Air Force in Locking, England. David served at a number of Canadian Forces Stations such as, twice in Carp, Ontario; Masset, BC; Leitrim, Ontario; and three tours at CFSAlert NWT. He was also posted twice to National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa. His medals include the Special Service Medal (Alert), Canadian Centennial Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration with Clasp. After 28 years of dedicated service, David was honourably discharged in April 1990, at the rank of Sergeant. MCCAUL, James Garfield Garfield was born in Vernon, Ontario on January 12, 1918. He joined the Army on November 30, 1941 and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps as part of the 5th Canadian Armoured Division in England, Italy and Northwest Holland from 1943 to 1945. He was discharged on October 13, 1945 but rejoined in September 1956 as a mechanic with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He retired as a Light Aircraft Mechanic in January 1969 after serving in Whitehorse, Rivers and Shilo. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star and the Italy Star. Garfield passed away on May 17, 2001. MCCALL, Malcolm B. “Mac” Mac was born on January 17, 1925, in Kintore, Ontario. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1956 and served in Canada, France and Germany during the Cold War. His overseas postings saw him serve in Metz, France and Lahr, Germany. He was discharged in 1977. Mac was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion St. Mary’s Branch 236 for 21 years before he passed away on August 5, 1991.
