229 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MARTIN, R. C. R. C. Martin was born in Tobermory, Ontario. He served in the Army with the Grey and Simcoe Foresters during World War II. MARTINSEN, Ryan James Ryan was born in Sarnia, Ontario onAugust 29, 1974. He started his military career in the 79th Lynton Davies Air Cadet Squadron. At the age of eighteen, he joined the Lincoln and Welland Reserve Unit. He did two tours of Bosnia and one of Afghanistan. In 2011, he joined the Regular Forces. He retired in September 2021 and passed away on July 18, 2022. MARTIN, Wilson Alexander Wilson was born in Montreal, Quebec on December 8, 1916, to John Alexander and Jessie (Gartshore) Martin. He had two brothers, William Jamieson (a casualty of World War II) and John Gartshore. Wilson graduated from the University of Toronto and worked at the Waterloo Trust and Savings Company. In 1939, he entered active service with the Army (Regular Force) and after training he was posted at the Royal Military College in Kingston with the rank of Sergeant. In 1942, Wilson married Dorothy Elaine (Pequegnat) and they raised two daughters, Margaret Christine and Nan. The end of the war brought forth demobilization and Wilson was honourably discharged with the rank of Major. He worked all his life at the Dominion Rubber Company as an Industrial Engineer. Wilson passed away on September 20, 1997, and is buried in Woodland Cemetery in Kitchener.
