399 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND Remembrance day poem On the Eleventh hour of the Eleventh day of the Eleventh month The world becomes silent as the flags are lowered We pause a moment to remember The gallant soldiers who risk their lives to keep us safe We pause a moment to thank All the fearless veterans who stood up to defend our freedom We pause a moment to learn Our past mistakes have led to gruesome wars We pause a moment to reflect What we can do to preserve the preciousness of peace? We pause a moment to breathe The fresh autumn air filled with fragrance of poppies Scarlet petals flutter delicately in the breeze like beautiful butterflies The spirit of fallen soldiers nestled in the black center of the poppies Like an unmarked grave guarded by sweet angels Lest we forget The atrocities of the war Lest we forget Every soldier who deserves our utmost reverence Lest we forget We can all contribute to make our world a brighter one
