355 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND TRIBUTE, Bruce Mark Bruce was born in Toronto, Ontario on June 13, 1952. On June 12, 1967, he joined the Windsor Regiment when he was sixteen years old. His training began at the Windsor Armories, Camp Borden, Ipperwash and Cedar Springs. After serving four years, Bruce was discharged on April 20, 1971 and went on to the University of Windsor where he studied Psychology and Communication studies. Bruce went to the Ford Motor Company and became an electrician. He got married and he and his wife raised two daughters. Bruce is now retired and spends a lot of time helping out at the Legion as the House Committee chairman, Sgt at Arms and Parade Commander. Bruce is a proud nineteen-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 255. ULRICH, Dieter Helmut Dieter was born inAmfurth, Germany on December 14, 1941, to Franz and Helene (Hossbach) Ulrich, along with two sisters, Monika and Christa. Dieter joined the Army Regular Force on March 2, 1959 and was attached to the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, ADM Coy. at CFB Calgary. He served in Canada, Cyprus, Germany, and Egypt. While serving, he joined The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 276 in Calgary, Alberta. In 1984, after 25 years in the army, Dieter retired and moved toWaterloo, Ontario. He accumulated 33 years of membership in The Royal Canadian LegionWaterloo Branch 530. Dieter passed away on December 1, 2016, at the age of 76, at the Grand River Hospital, Freeport Campus. His sister Christa graciously gave his military uniform to the Waterloo Legion and it is proudly displayed on a mannequin in the foyer. Dieter Ulrich’s name has been inscribed on plaque #8 of the Waterloo Legion Veterans Wall of Remembrance. TRUDEL, John Louis John was born in Cochrane, Ontario on July 27, 1925. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in 1939 and served with the Lake Superior Regiment in Canada, Britain and Northwest Europe during World War II. John was wounded three times: shot in the leg, shrapnel in his arm, and blown out of a tank. He was discharged from service on January 18, 1946 and became a millwright when he returned. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion. John was plagued by life-long health issues. He resided in Hamilton, Ontario until his death on November 18, 1993.
