341 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND STEVENSON (WELDON), Barbara Amelia Barbara was born in Windsor, Ontario on December 15, 1939. She enlisted in the reserves for two years then joined the Regular Air Force on October 1, 1959 as a LAW Radar Control Operator. After basic training, she was posted to Senneterre, Quebec where she stayed until she was discharged on August 14, 1963. She met and married Leslie Stevenson while in Senneterre. After discharge, they moved to Windsor, Ontario. Barbara is a ten-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 255. STRETTON, James Herbert “Herb” Herb was born in Calgary, Alberta on August 15, 1908. He served as an Instrument Mechanic “A” in the Royal Canadian Air Force repairing instrument on planes. He enlisted in the Air Force (Regular) on June 13, 1940, and was assigned to the Fingal Base in Ontario for training. During his time there, Herb also served in the Base Orchestra playing the Double Bass. He was sent to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and assigned to Goose Bay, Labrador until the war ended. He was awarded for his service of nearly five years, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was discharged on May 21, 1945 and returned to Brussels, Ontario where he ran a plumbing and electrical business along with doing jewellery repairs. In 1956, he changed careers by accepting a position as a land appraiser for the Ontario Department of Highways where he worked until his retirement. Herb was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Brussels Branch 218. Herb passed away on January 22, 1996. STEVENSON, Leslie Winston Leslie was born in Sterling, Scotland on July 28, 1940. He immigrated with his family to Canada in 1952. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on August 15, 1957. After basic training, he was posted to Senneterre, Quebec as a communications technician (ground) until honourable discharge on August 8, 1963. He met and married Barbara Weldon in Senneterre. After discharge, they moved to Windsor, Ontario. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 255. Leslie passed away on August 31, 2016.
