301 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PIGNATEL, Cory Adam Daniel Cory was born in North Bay, Ontario onApril 9, 2001. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces on October 25, 2019 in Ottawa, Ontario and serves in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was assigned the trade of a Communication Researcher. He completed his basic training at Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School (CFLRS) in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec and is currently posted to the Basic Training List in Kingston, ON awaiting his trades training at Canadian Forces School of Communication and Electronics (CFSCE) in Kingston. Cory currently holds the rank of Aviator (Private). Cory is the son of Chief Warrant Officer Didier Pignatel and Chief Warrant Officer Tracy Graham who are both still serving. PIKE, Lonzel Lonzel was born in Toronto, Ontario on October 27, 1922. He enlisted in the Navy (Regular Force) on August 27,1942 and served as ship’s cook/steward from February 18, 1944, until May 24, 1945, aboard the RCN Corvette HMCS Chambly (pennant no. K-116). Sailing out of St. John’s, Newfoundland on escort duty, he was part of the “mid-ocean escort force”. This naval ship, along with others, was responsible for keeping sea lanes open between NorthAmerica and England during the “Battle of the North Atlantic” which was the longest running battle fought in all of World War II. Lonzel was discharged on November 20, 1945. He passed away on January 30, 2017. PIGNATEL, Didier Jean-Paul Louis “DJ” DJ was born on November 30, 1968, in Marseille, France and immigrated to Canada at the age of two. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces (RCAF) on April 12, 1988, in Montreal as anAir Defence Technician. After completing basic and trades training DJ went on to serve at 51 AC&W Squadron, North Bay, Cheyenne Mountain Air Station, Colorado Springs, USA, CFLRS St. Jean. With promotions, came posting to 12ER, 3 Wing Bagotville, 2 Canadian Air Division at 17 Wing Winnipeg where he was chosen to attend advance leadership training at the Senior NCO Academy in Montgomery, Alabama. DJ also served at 19 Wing Comox, BC, as the ATC MWO. He completed a tour at CFS Alert, Nunavut as the Station WO. While posted to Ottawa, he completed a year as the School Chief at CFSACO Cornwall. In Ottawa he served as an AC Op and Met Tech Career Manager and DSA Air Environmental CWO Career Manager. DJ currently holds the position of the DGMC CWO. He was awarded the CDS Commendation for “Act of Bravery”, Member of the Order of Military Merit (MMM), Special Service Medal (Alert) and the Canadian Forces Decoration and clasps. DJ continues to serve a 33-year-plus distinguished career. He is married to CWO Tracy Graham who is still serving.
