291 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND OBERLIN, William Arthur William was born in Norwich, Ontario on February 13, 1924. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) on February 17, 1944 and served with the 48th Highlanders of Canada in Sicily and in Italy during World War II. He was wounded in action on December 31, 1943 and again on September 16, 1944. He was discharged on May 11, 1945. William resided in Toronto, Ontario from 1955 to 1989 and in Exeter, Ontario from 1989 until his passing on October 12, 2012. O’NEILL, James James was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland on April 29, 1926. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) with the Gordon Highlanders Regiment on May 18, 1944. He was a proud Veteran in World War II. He was stationed for training in Pinefield Camp Aberdeen. He was discharged on November 7, 1947 in the rank of Private. James immigrated to East York, Toronto, Ontario in 1963 with his wife and two children where he resided until his death on February 6, 2008. He was a proud member of The Royal Canadian Legion Todmorden Branch 10 for 43 years. OSBORNE, Lloyd W. Lloyd was born in the Hamlet of Glamis, Bruce County, Ontario in 1915 to Robert and Sarah (Atkinson) and attended public school in Glamis. He joined the Navy but did not serve overseas. Upon discharge, he returned home in 1946 and continued to live with his parents. He never married. Lloyd had several jobs working as a labourer, and at Kincardine Creamery and eventually was employed on the shipping freighters on the Great Lakes. In 1997, Lloyd left the area and passed away in 1985. He is buried in Purdy Cemetery in Brockton, Ontario.
