287 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MURRAY, Bruce Ralph Bruce was born in Sarnia, Ontario on December 5, 1920. He enlisted in the Army Regular Force on June 2, 1942, serving in the Artillery in England. He was discharged on March 12, 1946. Bruce married Helen in 1950 and they had three children. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Sarnia Branch 62 for over sixty years and is a life-long resident of Sarnia. Bruce celebrated his 100th birthday in 2020. MUTLOW, Shane Richard Shane was born on September 10, 1969 in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. His interest in the military started in the Reserves serving with the Artillery unit at CFB Griesbach, Edmonton. He then enrolled in the Regular Force on March 15, 1990 in Edmonton, Alberta as a Radio Operator (RAD OP). Shane went on to complete basic training at CFB Cornwallis and then trades training at Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics (CFSCE) in Kingston, ON. He served with 1st Canadian Division Headquarters and Signals Regiment (1 CDHSR) Kingston and also with 3 Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR), Airborne Operations at CFB Petawawa, ON. While in Kingston, Shane was deployed as a UN Peacekeeper serving in the aftermath of the genocide in Rwanda, Africa where he observed a number of inhumane atrocities. He has published a book titled “One Foot Over the Edge” describing his fight with PTSD from serving in Rwanda. Shane’s Medals consist of the UNAssistance Mission in Rwanda (UNAMIR) and the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal (CPSM). After eight years of dedicated service, he was honourably discharged on June 25, 1998 at the rank of Corporal. MURRAY, John Joseph Roger John was born in Collingwood, Ontario on September 24, 1918. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in 1939 and served overseas as a medic until his release in 1945. He was a resident of Acton, Ontario from 1960 until his passing on May 28, 1991.
