257 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MacTAVISH, Frederick George Frederick was born in Ripley, Ontario on April 3, 1898. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in Toronto on October 10, 1917 and served with the Canadian Expedition Force Medical Corps and served in Canada and Siberia according to his discharge documents. He was discharged on June 30, 1919. Frederick passed away on December 20, 1963. MADDEAUX, Robert Robert was born in Toronto, Ontario on June 28, 1913. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) on May 21, 1941, and served with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe and Central MediterraneanArea. Robert was discharged on December 12, 1945. After returning to civilian life, Robert married and raised his family of three boys in Toronto. He was able to obtain employment with the City of Toronto, Department of Public Health as a Health Inspector. He worked there until his retirement. Robert passed away on June 4, 1992. MADDEAUX, Nelson Nelson was born in Toronto, Ontario on January 29, 1924. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in January 1943 and served with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in Germany, Holland and Italy. On August 27, 1944, while transporting six wounded soldiers in Italy, Nelson’s ambulance was hit by a shell sending it fifteen feet into the air. He received slight wounds when shrapnel entered his leg. He was released from service in December 1945. Upon return to civilian life, he worked for Canada Post until his retirement. He did volunteer community work with Children’s Aid and Scouts Canada. Nelson passed away on April 2, 2003.
