255 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MacLENNAN, Campbell “Mac” Mac was born in Glamis, Ontario in 1910, the son of John K. and Frances (Pickard). During World War II, he served in the Army. After the war, he married Ruth Hannah and operated a general store in Cargill, Ontario. He passed away in 1988 and is buried in the local cemetery in Cargill. MacLEOD, John Donald “Jack” Jack was born in Kitchener, Ontario on April 27, 1942. He was farming until he read about Army training at Owen Sound’s Armoury. Jack enlisted on December 18, 1961 and did basic training in Owen Sound. From there, he was sent to 6PD in Toronto, followed with postings to Cedar Springs, Wolseley Barracks in London, ON; Camp Ipperwash, Ontario; Moncton, New Brunswick and the last posting was Fort York, Soest, Germany for three years. He finished military service on January 19, 1965 and was honourably released and he returned to Hanover, ON. Upon return, he joined The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 464 in Chatsworth, ON as his father, JohnAlexander MacLeod, a WorldWar II Veteran, was a member. He has volunteered for many locations in Grey and Bruce Counties. Along with taking his security training, he also had a roofing remodeling business and factory work at Sklar Peppler. He was first married on June 4, 1965, and had five children and remarried on August 6, 1977, and had three children. He has lots of grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. MacLENNAN, Torrence Torrence was born in Kincardine Township on March 3, 1882, to James and Catherine (MacLeod) MacLennan. At the age of 34, he enlisted in the Army in Tiverton, Ontario on March 13, 1916 to serve during World War I. Torrence was attached to the 160th Battalion, D Company and trained in London, Ontario. Eventually, he was sent overseas and served in France and Germany where he was wounded. He was discharged on August 25, 1919 at the London, Ontario depot and he headed to western Canada to homestead. After some time out west, he returned to Kincardine, retiring to Glamis until his death on May 5, 1956.
