245 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LEGAULT, Gerard Albert Gerard was born in Penetanguishene, Ontario on June 12, 1931. He enlisted in the Army on October 19, 1951 and served as a Gunner in Canada, Far East and Korea. He was a Korean Veteran #1 RCHA serving from 1951 to 1953. Gerard was discharged on December 4, 1954. He received the Korea Medal, United Nation Service Medal, Peacekeeping Medal and Canada Volunteer Medal. He was a charter member of the Korean Veteran’s Association Unit #61 and a thirty-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 256. He spent most of his adult life in Canada’s western provinces. Gerard passed away on February 10, 2018. LEMAITRE, Marcel Ronald Marcel was born in Hamilton, Ontario on December 24, 1939. He enlisted in the Army on November 27, 1957, and joined the 8th Field Regiment (Militia) for two years. He took his basic training in Shilo, Manitoba and was sent to Petawawa with W Battery, 4 Regiment RCHA in June 1958. Marcel volunteered to assist cleanup of radioactive spill at Chalk River AECLA in 1958. He received Certificate of Recognition for exceptional service. He spent two summers at Brigade Concentrations in Gagetown, New Brunswick and was released from Regular Army on January 4, 1964. He served in Canadian Corps of Commissionaires for seventeen years. Marcel was awarded Long Service Medal and Bar. Over the years, he has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branches 58, 163, and currently Branch 464 in Chatsworth, Ontario for a total of over thirty years membership. LEHMAN, John Wesley “Jack” John, known as Jack, was born on January 22, 1921, in Uxbridge Township; his parents were Wesley and Arvilla (Hill) Lehman. He married Rowena Redshaw in 1942. They resided in Toronto where Jack drove a delivery truck for a bakery until he enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) with the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders in 1943. When Jack returned home from the war in 1945, he and his wife took up residence and remained in Claremont where they raised their four children, Robert (Bob), Alvin (Vince), Gordon and Janice. Jack hauled gravel with his Diamond Reo truck until he went to work for General Motors, in Oshawa and retired from GM with 27 years of service. He was active with his regiment, a past member of the Masonic Lodge, and an executive for the Claremont Branch 483 of The Royal Canadian Legion for many years. Jack passed away on July 4, 1999, and was laid to rest at the Claremont Union Cemetery.
