219 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HUETHER, Harold Logan Harold was born on August 21, 1921, in Grey Township, Huron County, Ontario and was raised in Cranbrook, Ontario, a part of a family of five children. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (Regular) in Galt on October 21, 1941. He trained in Edmonton and Lethbridge where he received his wings and went overseas as an air gunner in March 1942. He was a member of the 9th Squadron of the Royal Air Force and was stationed in Waddington, England. He flew as a gunner in the Lancaster and participated in many trips over enemy territory. His plane and five other crew members were reported missing and believed to have been shot down over the North Sea on a mission to bomb Duisberg, Germany on April 10, 1943. He is remembered with honour at the Runnymede Memorial in England. His younger sister Alice presented Brussels Branch 218 of The Royal Canadian Legion with his medals in 2017. He had received the Air Crew Europe Star, 1939-1945 Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, Railway Battalion Troops Pin and Distinguished Conduct Medal. INGRAM, Edward Harold Harold was born on July 25, 1895, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, the son of Henry Lloyd and Mary Elizabeth (Parker) Ingram. In 1901, he lived in Kenora, and moved to Belleville in 1903 where he resided most of his life. On June 16, 1915, he enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) with 59th Battalion. A week later, he transferred to 26 Battery 7th Brigade Canadian Field Artillery and became a Bombardier in January 1916. Edward served in France and Belgium and in 1917 transferred to 26 Battery 5th Brigade CFA, Vimy. He received a second wound and shrapnel to the face, recovered in England. He took a gas course in 1918, Volunteer CNREF, 16th Brigade on August 2, 1918 to Archangel until May 1919. He was awarded the St. George’s Cross Medal. Edward returned to Canada in July 1919. He was married in Millbrook on June 30, 1920 to Nettie May Handley and later resided in Trenton; Watsonville, California; and Belleville. He worked as an insurance agent and later as an accountant. They had two children, Kenneth, who served in the RCAF in World War II and in Korea and daughter Jeanne. Harold passed away on October 25, 1964 and is buried in Belleville Cemetery. INGRAM, Arthur Edward “Ted” Ted was born on March 20, 1921, in Saint John, NB. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on December 2, 1939, at the age of eighteen. After air gunnery training, he married Gloria May Lefurgey on June 7, 1941. He proceeded overseas on June 27, 1941 and repatriated back to Canada on October 27, 1942. He served with 409 Squadron Night Fighter, 278 SquadronAir Sea Rescue, and 288 Squadron Anti Aircraft Co-op. He taught aircraft recognition and art until his honourable discharge on March 5, 1944. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-1945. Post war, he returned to the Ontario College of Art to complete his art education. He worked as a freelance illustrator and a book cover artist prior to accepting the position as chief Anthropological Artist in the humane history branch at the National Museum of Canada in Ottawa until early retirement in the late 1960’s. He was an outstanding artist in the classical Renaissance style in portrait, figure, sculpture, fine art, contemporary art, dioramas and event design. He suffered post war from PTSD and died at the age of 65, on April 4, 1986.
