213 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HOPPER, Garnet Illingsworth Garnet was born in Penetanguishene, Ontario, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hopper. He served overseas with the Royal Canadian Air Force 426 Squadron as a flying officer inWorldWar II. Garnet was killed in action on November 21, 1944 in England and is buried at Harrogate (Stonefall) Cemetery. HOPPER, Murray James Murray was born in Orillia, Ontario on November 14, 1919. He enlisted in the Army Regular Force and served overseas with the Royal Canadian Engineers in World War II. He survived the war and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 176 in Forest, Ontario. HOPPER, George Bernard George was born on February 12, 1919. He served with the 48th Highlanders of Toronto during World War II. The Regiment landed in Sicily in the Italian Campaign. He was wounded twice and remained on duty. He and the Canadian Corps were transferred to Northwest Europe in 1943 and he served until war’s end. He was past President of The Royal Canadian Legion Forest Branch 176.
