131 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DOBBYN, Gordon Ray Gordon was born on June 26, 1919 in Ontario. He joined the Army on April 1, 1942 and served in Canada at No. 1 District Depot, General Service until his discharge on July 13, 1942. He was a lover of music and he played the bugle in the Army. Gordon worked for the London Transit driving a bus for 28 years. He continued with his love of music playing in a band and teaching his grandchildren in his spare time. Gordon passed away on January 22, 2014. DORMAN, Lenard Vincent William “Bill” Bill was born on July 27, 1916, in Smiths Falls, Ontario. In the fall of 1939, he joined the Army (Regular Force) in Kingston as a Gunner. He served with the 1st Canadian Artillery Regiment B Battery, transferred to the 3rd Canadian Artillery Light and Heavy Anti-Aircraft before he joined the 6th Anti-Tank Regiment in July 1944 out of London. He saw action in the Battle of Dunkirk, North Africa and his regiment helped liberate eastern France, Belgium and Holland. In July 1945, he was released from the military and worked for the CPR in civilian life. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Smiths Falls Branch 95. Bill passed away in the 1990s. DOHERTY, Robert J. Robert was born on July 6, 1930, in Cobourg, Ontario. He joined the Army in 1950 and served in Korea as a Gunner in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. He was discharged in 1953. Robert was a member of Cobourg Legion Branch 133 for 46 years before he passed away on October 25, 2006.
