551 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WRIGHT, Garnet William Garnet was born in Ottawa on April 25, 1920. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940 and was stationed in Newfoundland tasked with refueling aircraft before their flights were ferried to the United Kingdom. After being discharged in 1946, he worked in the construction trade as a carpenter in the Ottawa and Kemptville area. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Kemptville Branch 212. Garnet passed away on September 29, 2007. WYLIE, William Henry William was born in Coldwater, Ontario, on September 30, 1923. He spent his boyhood and attended public school in the village before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force on November 6, 1942. Flight Sergeant Wylie served as an Air Gunner on Wellington and Lancaster bombers with No. 90 Squadron (RAF) and No. 514 Squadron (RAF) in the European theatre until the end of World War II. He accumulated more than 300 flying hours and flew 22 operational sorties. He was honourably released on February 11, 1946 and eventually returned to Coldwater to operate the family business of Wylie Coach Lines, which he still owned at the time of his death on October 4, 1975. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Coldwater Branch 270. WYATT, William James William was born on April 28, 1895 in Toronto, Ontario. He was working in Arkona, Ontario. William enlisted in the Army on December 13, 1915, joining the 149th Battalion. He sailed on the SS Lapland in March 1917. William had two years of experience with Oxford and Buckingham Light Infantry. In England, he was transferred to the 18th Battalion and served in France in November 1917. William was discharged in May 1919 returning to marry Mildred Gilkes and raise a family and farm. William passed away in 1968 buried at the Atherly Cemetery, Ontario.
