531 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WHITE, Kenneth Joseph Kenneth was born on August 4, 1920, in Stephen Township, Ailsa Craig, Ontario, the son of Joseph and Annie White. Kenneth enlisted in the Army on December 1, 1944, joining the Ontario Regiment RCAC as a trooper, later tank gunner. Kenneth trained in Canada and went overseas in December 1942 then joined the Canadian Armoured Corps. He was killed in action against the enemy in the Mediterranean Theatre of War on May 26, 1944 and is buried at the Rocasecca Italy Cassino Military Cemetery. His medals are the Italy Star, Defence Medal, War Medal 19391945 and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. WHITING, Earl Norville Clarence Earl was born in McGillivray Township, Ailsa Craig, Ontario on August 15, 1895, the son of John and Leah Whiting. He was single and worked on the farm. Earl enlisted in the Army on March 20, 1915 joining the 135th Battalion. He sailed on the SS Olympic in August 1916 to England. He was transferred to the 125th Battalion and was hospitalized with rubella and mumps. Earl served eighteen months in France, discharged in March 1919. He married Ethel Kestle. Earl passed away on June 13, 1953 and is buried at the Exeter Cemetery. WHITELAW, Charles Alfred Charles was born in Sylvan, West Williams Township, Ontario on April 3, 1891. He moved toWinnipeg, Manitoba a tinsmith by trade. Charles enlisted in the Army on October 10, 1915 joining the 1st Draft 34th Fort Garry Horse, 38th Battalion. Charles served in England and France from February 1916 until his discharge in July 1919.
