525 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WATTS, Albert Edward “Bert” Bert was born in Bosanquet Township near Thedford, Ontario on October 24, 1888. He was the son of George Watts and Eliza Bass. Later the whole family moved to Fort Francis, Ontario where Bert joined the 149th Battalion in Forest, Ontario on May 8, 1916 duringWorldWar I. He did not serve but joined active militia instead. WEATHERILL, Herbert William Herbert was born on November 25, 1909 in Woodbridge, Ontario. He farmed outside of Woodbridge when he enlisted with the army during World War II. He was a member of the Provost Corp and served as a military policeman driving a motorcycle at Base Borden. After Herbert was discharged, he worked at Goodyear Tire and was invited to work for Woodbridge Police and became Chief until his retirement in 1969. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 414 for over sixty years. Herbert passed away on June 28, 1993. WATTS, George Leonard George was born on September 10, 1896 in Middlesex County, Ontario. He lived in Arkona, Ontario a miller by trade. George enlisted in the Army on December 27, 1915 in Arkona, Ontario with the 149th Battalion. He sailed in March 1917 to England and was transferred to the 25th Reserve Battalion. In hospital due to illness, he was discharged in August 1918. George moved to Saskatchewan and later married and moved to British Columbia. George passed away in 1967 and is buried at Mountain View Cemetery.
