523 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WATCHER, Harry Harry was born in 1890 on the family farm in Bosanquet Township. The family moved to Thedford then Forest after High School. He apprenticed as a watchmaker for three years in Parkhill, Ontario. Harry moved to Edmonton to work for his brother in 1910. After working in various Alberta locations, he established his business in Grand Prairie. Harry helped organize the Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Agriculture Society and joined the Grand Prairie Band. In 1916, he enlisted in the Armed Forces, having sold his business. Harry returned home in 1919, he joined the Great War Veteran Association. He built a new store in 1920. In 1926, he married and in 1928, bought the Spicer building, which served his business for 37 years. He was one of the charter members of the Grand Prairie Rotary Club, also chartered member of Grand Prairie Shriners Club. He was a long-time member of the AM and FM Lodge No. 105. In 1965, Harry retired, sold his business, celebrating their golden anniversary in 1976. Harry passed away on September 19, 1979. WATSON, William Scott William was born in June 1895 in McGillivray Township, Ailsa Craig, Ontario, the son of Alex and Catherine Watson. He enlisted in the Army on December 27, 1915 and joined the 135th Battalion sailing on the SS Olympic in August 1916. William landed in France on January 24, 1917 with the 4th Canadian Railway Troops. He ended up in hospital with a hernia from bayonet fighting. William was discharged in January 1919, returned home, and married Ruth Haist. William passed away in 1948 and is buried at Brinley/Dixon United Cemetery. WATMORE, Reginald Kitchener Reginald was born onApril 25, 1915 in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England. He came to Canada in September 1929 on the Duchess of Athill. Reginald worked on a farm for Orville Dixon in Clandeboye, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on June 3, 1941 joining the 1st Hussars Regiment, RCAC. In England, he married Alice Bixley. Reginald served in France on July 4, 1944 with the 6th Armoured Regiment. Reginald was killed in action on August 8, 1944. He left behind a wife and a twoday old daughter. Reginald is buried at Saint-Germain-la-Blanche-Herbe, France.
