473 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND SHEFF, Francis Henry Francis was born in Wallaceburg, Ontario on July 17, 1924. He enlisted in the Army on March 14, 1944 and served with the RCIC Essex Scottish Regiment. He served in Chatham, London, Camp Ipperwash, Linex, Scotland and Belgium during World War II. Francis was killed in action in Belgium on July 10, 1944. SHEFF, John Baptiste John was born in Dover, Ontario on April 19, 1895. He enlisted in the Army on August 15, 1914 and served with the 1st Cont, CEF, 4th Canadian Reserve Battalion. He served at Passchendaele, France during World War I and was discharged on October 31, 1919. John also served in World War II at Salisbury Plain, England. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal, Member British Empire, Victory Medal, 1914-1915 Star Medal, BritishWar Medal and Victory Medal. After his service in both world wars, he was an Ontario Police Officer for Chatham Police Division and the OPP. John passed away on October 13, 1975. SHEFF, Gerald Anthony Gerald was born in Wallaceburg, Ontario on September 20, 1932. He enlisted in the Army in 1949 and served in logistics with the Canadian Scottish Regiment in London, Borden, Kingston and Soest, Germany. He was discharged in 1976. Gerald resided in Windsor until he passed away on April 17, 2011.
