467 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND SHANK, Floyd Henry Floyd was born in Vanda, Saskatchewan on November 14, 1921, the son of John and Ethel Shank. The family moved to Parkhill, Ontario and Floyd enlisted in the Army on August 21, 1942 joining the Black Watch Royal Highland Regiment. He was also in Canadian Army Reserve from August to November 1942. He married Doreen Brophy in May 1944. Floyd went overseas to France. According to a report, Shank and Sinclair were taken prisoners to D.R. and had been caught by machine gun crossfire. Private Shank and prisoners were hit. Floyd was killed in action on August 29, 1944 and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery. SHARPE, Randy Franklin Randy was born in Sault Ste. Marie on November 15, 1948. He enlisted in the Navy in April 1965 and served as a Peacekeeper on the High Seas on HMCS Bonaventure and HMCS Kootenay. He served for approximately three years, being discharged inApril 1968. Upon his return, he went to work at Algoma Steel. Randy developed cancer and passed away on November 26, 1992. SHARPE, Norman Frank Norman was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on March 3, 1924. He enlisted in the Navy and served on small corvette ships for approximately three years in Canada and on the High Seas during World War II. Upon returning to civilian life, Norman went to work at Algoma Steel until 1979. He was a member of the Naval Vets. Norman passed away on May 19, 1984.
