449 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ROSS, Duncan Graham Duncan was born on May 26, 1891 in Simcoe, Ontario, the son of James and Susannah Ross and they moved to Lucan, Ontario. Duncan was with the Royal Highlanders when he enlisted in the Army on November 26, 1915. He joined the 135th Battalion sailing to England in August 1916 on the SS Olympic. Duncan served in France in April 1918, promoted to Captain of the 161st Battalion, 4th Reserves Bn and 47th Battalion. WOR Duncan was awarded the Military Cross. Duncan returned on the Southampton and was discharged in July 1919. He married Constance Prendergast in 1920. Duncan passed away in 1982 and is buried at Parkhill Cemetery, Ontario. ROSS, Orval E. Orval was born in Ryerson Township, Parry Sound, Ontario on March 1, 1938. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in September 1956. Orval served from September 1956 to 1958 at Training Command; 1958 to 1961 at Air Defence Command; 1961 to 1965 on NATO missions in England and France; 1965 to 1972 at Training Command; 1972 to 1984 at Air Defence Command. He was discharged in November 1984 as a Warrant Officer. ROSS, George Connell George was born on June 26, 1898 in Thedford Ontario. He worked as a baker when he enlisted in the Army on January 8, 1916. He served during World War I with the 149th Battalion Special Service Co. CEF in Canada. George had health issues, mumps, and a hernia which made him medically unfit and a slight disability due to military service and was discharged on May 20, 1917. George passed away on November 12, 1918 at twenty years of age.
