445 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ROBINSON, James Brian James was born in MacClesfield, England on December 17, 1935. He enlisted in 1954 in the Royal Corps of Signals trained as a Radio Operator and Parachutist. He was discharged in 1956 as a Corporal. He came to Canada in 1957 with his wife Velma and son Derek and lived in Hensall, Ontario for 35 years. He was an accountant by trade. James became a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 468 in 1986. ROBINSON, William Cecil Elwood William was born in Coldwater, Ontario, on November 13, 1891, the son of Alexander Robinson and Rebecca Smith. On February 1, 1915, he enlisted in the Army with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Toronto. He was 24 years old and single. He listed his trade as engineer and had no previous military experience. Private Robinson sailed on the HMS Metagama to arrive in England on June 14, 1915, where he was assigned to Eaton’s Machine Gun Battery. He was discharged from the Canadian Expeditionary Force on December 20, 1915, in order to be commissioned into the Imperial Army. William passed away on October 13, 1960. ROBINSON, Russell Llewellyn Russell was born in Kitchener, Ontario in the year of 1914. He had eight siblings: Jack, Eva, Ernie, Violet, Clayton, Dorothy, Louis, and Eileen. Russell was a Veteran of World War II, serving overseas from 1939 to 1945 where he obtained the rank of Company Sergeant Major with the Royal Canadian Regiment. Russell and his wife Nellie Marie (Giese) raised five children Ray, Leonard, Gladys, Robert, and Brenda Quellette. He owned and operated Russ Robinson Heating in Waterloo for many years. In 1952, Russell was one of one hundred Veterans who started The Royal Canadian Legion Waterloo Branch 530 and is listed as a Charter Member with 39 continuous years of membership and 37 years in the AA system. Russell passed away at Freeport Hospital Health Care Village in Kitchener, Ontario on September 26, 1991 at the age of 77. Interment took place in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Linwood, Ontario. Russell’s name has been inscribed on Plaque #4 of the Waterloo Legion Veterans Wall of Remembrance.
