437 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND REMDENOK, Peter Peter was born in Windsor, Ontario on February 9, 1931. He enlisted in the Army with a friend in February 1951 when things were not going well for the UN. He worked at Ford Motor Co. Peter was attached to the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Korea as a vehicle mechanic. He was discharged in February 1954. He returned one year later and got married. He had a career with London Life and retired as a sales manager after 31 years. He and his wife raised three successful boys. Peter is a 20-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Riverside Branch 255. RICE, Arthur Rex Arthur was born on September 1, 1926, in Archerwill, Saskatchewan. His father Ray had been a veteran of the Great War. On June 16, 1943, Arthur joined the 33rd Field Regiment RCA reserves with the rank of “boy” and completed training at annual camp for 1943. On January 26, 1944, he was honourably discharged having completed six months of service. Soon after, Arthur looked for excitement and adventure and found it in Canada’s Merchant Navy, where he was sent to St. Margaret’s Sea training for four months. He served on several Merchant Cargo Ships: SS Connaught, SS Tuxedo, SS LaSalle and SS Brentwood making numerous trips supporting the war effort and achieving the rank of able seaman. After his stint with the Merchant Navy, Arthur joined the Ottawa Police where his war service proved beneficial in his chosen career. After a career spanning forty years and rising to the position of Chief of Police for Ottawa, Arthur retired. He currently lives in Nepean with his wife Madeleine. REYNOLDS, George Michael George was born in Cork County, Ireland on January 1, 1891. He moved to Canada and worked as a locomotion fireman in Sudbury. George enlisted in the Army on January 4, 1915 and sailed to England on SS Metagama. He joined the 119th Battalion, then 58th Battalion. He was in France in March 1917 and was promoted to Sergeant. George was wounded in his left leg in 1918. He arrived home on SS Olympic and was discharged on February 11, 1919. George passed away on October 1, 1959 and is buried at Pinehill Cemetery in Thedford, Ontario.
