431 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PROUDFOOT, Charles Eric Charles was born in Hawksbury, Ontario on May 29, 1954. He enlisted in the Army on May 29, 1970 with 2nd Battalion Irish Regiment of Canada and served in Canada as a reservist. He responded to the tornado that hit Sudbury on August 20, 1970. He was deployed to Lively to guard against looting and assist with disaster relief. He was discharged on March 2, 1972. Charles has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Onaping Falls Branch 503 for more than thirty years. PUTTICK, George William George was born in Hastings, England on June 5, 1893. He came to Canada in 1913 for work in the Arkona area. He enlisted in the Army in February 1915 and joined the 1st Battalion of the Canadian Infantry, Western Ontario Regiment. He sailed back to England and served in England and in France during World War I. He was wounded in France and was sent back to England. He passed away in the United Kingdom on January 30, 1916 and is buried in Herne Cemetery in North Kent. PUBLICOVER, Richard Murray “Rick” Rick was born on April 4, 1947 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He enlisted on May 20, 1966 with the Army Regular Forces. He served from 1966 to 1970 with the 2 Bn Canadian Guards and from 1970 to 1980 with 3 Bn RCR. His military deployments include Public Duties in Ottawa in 1967 and 1969, FLQ Crisis in Ottawa and Montreal in 1970, Kingston Penitentiary Riot in 1971, Millhaven Prison Break in 1972 and a UN Tour in Cyprus in 1976-1977. He received the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, UN Cyprus, Queens 60th Diamond Jubilee Medal, Queens 50th Jubilee Medal, Canadian Decoration and Corps of Commissionaires Long Service Medal and Clasp. Rick also received some special awards that were Top Recruit, Armed Forces Basic Training and Top Candidate 6A Sgt./Wo Qualification Course. Rick was discharged on August 30, 1980 and attained the rank of Master Corporal. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branches 129, 317, 2, and 263 for a total of 37 years. Rick currently lives in London, Ontario.
