425 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PLUMB, Richard Arthur Richard was born on March 26, 1897 in Thedford, Ontario. He was a telegraph operator. Richard enlisted in the Army on January 14, 1916 and sailed on the SS Lapland to England with the 149th Battalion serving in France. On April 4, 1918, he served with the 50th Battalion and was wounded in September 1918. He was discharged on January 15, 1919. Richard was the son of Ernest and Cora Plumb. He married Minnie Morgan and lived in Denfield, Ontario. Richard passed away in 1975. POOLE, Herbert “Bert” Bert was born on June 18, 1896 in Bradfield, England and came to Canada in 1907. Home Boy worked for James Brown in West Williams Township, Middlesex, Ontario. Bert enlisted in the Army on March 18, 1916 in Parkhill, Ontario and joined the 135th Battalion, 4th Battalion, Central Ontario Regiment. Bert arrived in England inAugust 1916 and served in France in November 1916. He was wounded in the right arm and was discharged in June 1919. He married Margaret Campbell and they moved to Detroit where he worked at Packard Motor Co. Bert passed away on August 8, 1963 and is buried at Arkona Cemetery, Arkona, Ontario. PLUNKETT, Ernest Cleon Ernest was born on May 11, 1895 in Brockville, Ontario. He worked as an accountant for one year with the Perth Regiment. He enlisted in the Army on November 27, 1915, joining the 109th Battalion. His unit sailed on SS Olympic to England. Ernest served in France, England, and Canada. He was wounded and spent months in hospital. He was discharged in February 1919 and returned home, married, and raised a family. Ernest and his wife moved to Thedford, Ontario. He passed away in 1981 and is buried at Pinehill United Cemetery in Thedford, Ontario.
